PLEASE NOTE
HM passport office is the sole issuer of UK passports and responsible for civil registration services through the general register office. They are the official government service to British citizens at home and abroad. Prior to 2013 the general register office oversees civil registration in England and Wales the HM passport office was known as the identity and passport service.
Visa24 does not issue passports. We pre-check your documents and submit them in person at HM passport office in London, we then collect them when your new passport is issued. Our passport service allows you to renew your passport on the same day if required.
Replacement
This applies if you want to replace a British passport that has been lost, stolen or damaged.
Extension
If your last passport was issued for one year or less, put a cross in the extension.
Renewal
This applies if your existing undamaged British passport, your name and British national status have not changed. If you are renewing a child's passport, please add a cross in the child box if they are under 16. Otherwise add a cross in the adult box if they are 16 and over. (Please fill out the 'changes section’ on the form if the applicant’s appearance has changed.)
First British passport
This applies if the applicant never had a British passport before, they were included as a child on the parents’ passport, or they are renewing an 'old blue' style passport. This includes those who were not British at birth but have gained the British Nationality by naturalisation or registration as a British national and are applying for their first British passport.

Send it to us

What To Include In An Application
VISA24 -
1. A completed passport application form
Cross out any mistakes. Do not use correction fluid. If you make more than three mistakes on any line or do not provide a clear signature in section 9, you will need to fill in a new form.
2. Two passport photographs
The photos should be recent, good quality, identical and (35mm x 45mm) taken against a LIGHT GREY background. If you cannot get a photo yourself then we can print them for you from a digital file. Simply email us a clear photo of the applicant or upload them here (link to the upload photo page) and we can process them for a £5 fee.
3. Your current passport
Your existing passport must be undamaged to apply for a renewal at the same day service. This passport will be then cancelled.A cancelled passport has the top right-hand corner of the cover cut off and will be returned to you together with the new passport.
4. Authorisation letter
A signed authorisation letter giving permission to Visa24 to renew your passport on your behalf. You can find a draft authorization letter here
5. Any additional documents

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
A counter signatory is someone who can confirm your identity. They need to confirm that, to the best of their knowledge, the details you have given in your application are correct that the person on the photograph is you.
- For child applications (aged under 16) it is also to confirm that the adult signing the declaration in section 9 of the application, knows the child for at least 2 years. They must also confirm that the person has parental responsibility for the child and confirm the child’s photo is genuine.
- The counter signatory must be a professional person (including those who are retired) for example, bank or building-society officials, police officers, civil servants, ministers of religion and people with professional qualifications like teachers, accountants, engineers and solicitors.
- The counter signatory needs to read through the completed application form to make sure the information is accurate in section 10 of the form giving their passport number and then sign in the box.
- Give their full address and contact details. This can be a business address or home address, but they should be able to be contacted at the same address.
- For an adult application, ‘certify’ one (not both) of your photographs - signing and dating one of the photographs as shown in the example below.
- For a child application number 16, this is to confirm that they have known the adult who signed the declaration in section 9 of the application form, for at least two years. They must certify the photograph (giving the child’s full name), signing and dating as shown in the example below, and
- put their initials next to any mistakes they may make in section 10.
- Be related to you by birth or marriage (including in-laws or partners of family members)
- Be in a personal relationship with you
- Live at your address, or
- Work for HM passport office.
The counter signatory must not:
- Your old passport will be cancelled. A cancelled passport has the top right-hand corner of the cover cut off and will be returned to you with the new passport.
- Your new passport will be valid for 10 years if is an adult passport or for 5 years for a child’s passport.
PAYMENT METHODS -
There are three different ways you can pay for your passport renewal as listed below. Please note that we submit your application as soon as we receive it so whichever payment method you choose it will not have an impact on the application process. There may be a delay in emailing the invoice to you but this does not impact the delivery time.
CASH
You can include cash with your application when you are sending the application forms to us. You would find the appropriate amount on the order form.
CHEQUE
You can include a Cheque or Postal Order with your application when you are sending it to us. If so, please make it payable to Visa24.
BANK TRANSFER
You can pay by BACS bank transfer while your application is being processed. If you choose this option, we shall invoice you once we have received your application and you make the payment while the embassy considers your request.
PayPal
We can send you the PayPal link on request, be advised there will be a surcharge for this payment method.
POSTING THE APPLICATION
Where to post it?
When you have gathered all the required documents, you can send the application to us by a method of choice. We recommend using Royal Mail’s special delivery service, or if you prefer another courier service that’s fine too. If you live close by, you can bring it to our office in person. Regardless of the method, if we receive the application before 9.20 am on a week day, we can begin the processing the same day. You should send the full visa application package to :

GETTING YOUR VISA BACK
There are three different ways to receive your passport or visa when the process is completed. You can select the option on the order form that you download and print out from this web page. The options are:
